Installed a new processor but after startup the fan starts turning but nothing happens

After I put my new processor in when I turn it on the fan turns but nothing happens. New processor: AMD Athlon x4 760k

Did you check that your motherbd/ system can run that processor to begin with?
Did you make sure your bios was up to the level needed to run that processor (if it can run it to begin with)?

Did you connect the 4 pin connector and also did you put in the cpu the right way?
