Windows (sometimes) freezes during boot-up

So when Windows (Windows 7 Ultimate) loads it will get to the "Starting Windows" screen with the black background and swirling orbs, but as soon as the orbs meet to make the Windows logo it'll just stay frozen. I need to reboot the computer 3 to 6 times in order for it to get past this screen.

Other than that, I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the computer, and I usually just put it to sleep instead of shutting it down so I don't need to deal with this issue. Another thing is that when I noticed this happening, I didn't install anything new, and the computer was running fine for several months. When I first noticed this, doing a system restore didn't help at all. The SSD the OS is on is only about 6 months old. This issue has been present now for a couple of months and doesn't seem be getting any worse (or better).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? Does this sound like I just need to reinstall Windows? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I updated the motherboard Bios and the problem seemed to go away. I was able to reboot several times for several weeks without experiencing this issue. But all of a sudden this issue reappeared out of nowhere. I don't know if that is linked, it was just the only thing major thing I had done to the computer. The motherboard is about 6 months old, as well.
