Need cpu help AM2 Socket

Hi I need to ask about buying what Cpu to get my friend. I am a Intel guy and I have no knowledge of AMD. My friend has a Dell Inspiron 519 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5680651) and he just upgraded it and stuck a Geforce Gtx 760, 650 W power supply and a 1 tb hard drive in it. He wants to upgrade his cpu and needs help. According to my research the board is a AM2 socket and they don't make am2 socket cpu anymore. I believe that you can fit a am2+ in it, but I am not sure.

You can't even find AM3 CPUs anymore, let alone AM2. He will definitely have to buy a new motherboard and CPU. That's the only way I see it working. How much is he willing to spend?
