My son's motherboard is a Socket 1156 - Intel H55 - GA-H55M-S2V (rev. 1.4). He had an Intel i3 processor and an HIS H775F1GD Radeon HD 7750 1GB (128bit) GDDR5 Displayport HDMI DVI (HDCP) PCI Express X16 3.0 Graphics Card, and 2x2 GB RAM. We upgraded his computer to an Intel Core i7 875k processor and 2x4GB G.Skill ripjaw RAM, both of which are compatible with his motherboard. The problem is, now the video card is not detected. With i3 and i5 LGA 1156 processors his motherboard has integrated graphics, but not with i7...so what do we have to do to fix this problem? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....Sincerely, a mom trying to upgrade her son's computer!!

This is a confusing answer: "So I have display, but it's running off my monitor's graphics, not the video card." What do you mean? If the monitor is connected to the video card, than the signal has to be from the 7750. Did you install AMD's Catalyst drivers from http://www.amd.com/en-us (Drivers + Support)?

My son had to run out to work for a few hours, so I may have to wait till he gets home for some questions, but I just checked under the device manager and all that comes up is the router, my passport (external drive), Richie's PC (his computer name), SteelSeries keyboard, USB composite device, and USB WLAN.

My son just texted me when I asked him your question and he said, "Just the monitor."

The monitor is plugged into the graphic card HDMI slot. The only display option is the monitor, so I do have display. When I look at my specs, it doesn't detect my graphics card. So I have display, but it's running off my monitor's graphics, not the video card. And yes, it does work with the old CPU.

When I run the control center it says that there isn't even an AMD card in the computer, and last i checked the drivers were up to date, this all started when I changed the RAM and the processor.

The CPU is brand-new out of the box. I can probably get my hands on the video card that I had before this present one....a friend borrowed it awhile back and is no longer using it. I probably couldn't get it back until tonight or tomorrow, but I'd be willing to try that....I just want to get this thing running correctly!

That's why I'm stumped. The CPU and RAM are the only things I changed/upgraded. I just again reset the BIOS to the default settings, no change. I think I'll try re-installing the drivers from the link you posted, and I'll let you know if there's any change. I won't be able to do it till tonight, though, because I was just called into work again. Thank you for continuing to try to help me get this fixed.

GhislainG: For a second time I re-installed the drivers for my video card and this time my video card was detected and the graphics are now running through the video card not just the standard monitor graphics, with new CPU and new RAM. Thank you all for your help! Happy Holidays!!!
