Installed new 3tb hard drive, but only 349gb is showing up in windows explorer...help??

So I just installed a brand new Western Digital 3TB Green Hard Drive however it only shows 349 gb available in windows explorer. I went into the BIOS and it is registered there with the correct amount of storage. I'm not sure what the problem is. It is my second hard drive. I have tried swapping sata cables and sata ports on the motherboard with no successful results...any suggestions?

if your dont have the newest efi bios most older mb bios have 2g disk limit.

Is the hard drive formatted as GPT?

It says that it is formatted as NTFS and it won't let me choose any other options

make sure it has the newest bios file then.

And what make and model mobo? There might be an install available from the manufacturer that unlocks the ability to use larger hard drives.

I had the same problem, if the above solutions don't work reinstall windows, worked for me
