Hello, I just bought a brand new EVGA gtx 970 to upgrade my 570 on a z77 gigabyte mobo. After installing it, I turned my comp on and the mobo splash pic (with bios hot key info) comes up and stays there quite a bit longer than usual then I just get an empty black screen. I popped the case open and took a look, the fans on the gpu i just installed are working, that is, they are twitching so im pretty sure that means its receiving power as i think it only turns on the fans when the gpu starts heating up. I installed it in the same port that my 570 has been in and I'm running windows 7, please, if anyone can help at all that would be great

Try going to safe mode by pressing F8 after the splash screen. If your display works, then you should uninstall the NVIDIA display drivers first, reboot to normal mode, then install the drivers again.

Please inform if it works.

hey thanks for replying, when I turn it on, it doesn't seem to take any input from my keyboard and just stays on the splash screen for a bit then turns black, do you think I should switch back to my old card, unninstall the drivers there and then put the new one back in? would that be possible?

----Update----

I switched my old gpu back in, made sure the nvidia drivers were uninstalled, restarted my comp to finish the uninstallation, then turned off my comp again and replaced the card once more, and the problem continues to persist. I still can't use my keyboard or mouse to go into safe mode or bios, just splash then a black screen. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know.
