Best inexpensive video card with NO fan (NOT PLAYING GAMES)

I just got an Asus i5-4460 PC with 6GB ram for a gift. (Will upgrade to 8GB very soon). The PC uses the onboard graphics, so obviously I want to upgrade the card. It does have a PCI-e x16 slot. I also bought a new 500w PSU. (Forget brand but it gets good reviews)

Anyway, I'm going to use the PC mostly as a music server. NO games will be played. Some light video streaming and Photoshop will be done. I'm rather close to the PC when listening to music and I want it as quiet as possible, so I don't want a fan on the card.

I've been looking at the Asus NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2GB DDR3 card (Although I've been reading that the 2GB version will offer no improvement over the 1GB).

Is there any other similarly priced card (no fan) that someone could recommend?

Thanks!

Uhmmm really no need as the only REASON for getting a GPU is for gaming or high performance video / photo editing. As your doing all things 'light' the onboard IGP built into the CPU actually is more then good enough for it. In fact, it actually will perform MUCH BETTER then the 610 which is very old light end GPU.

Honestly, unless you get into multiple monitors, playing games, heavier video editing (which I would suggest getting a Quadro for that end, Gamer cards are not built to perform as good as Workstation GPUs for such uses) or some series layering in PS with many open images at the same time (more RAM will be needed) then there is really NO NEED for a GPU card.

^ Wow. "Upgrading" to 8MB RAM seems like a serious downgrade!! :p And depending on what your "light" is, you'd be much better off with your IGPU, as it is more than enough for your needs. In fact, I do the same things you do with a PC of 2.6GHZ Dual core and 2GB RAM. (Obviously not as fast!) And if you wanted to get a completely silent GPU, you would have to look at a passively cooled GPU. But those are pretty pricey and not that worth it.

Also, my PC of Stock cooler I5 4590 and GTX 970 dual fan is unaudible when not playing demanding games. And that is when my PC is just half a metre from me with no case on. And your GPU's should be even more silent than mine! That is, unless you have the hearing of a tribal hunter :p Then I suppose the noise could be slightly disturbing.

8MB? Ah, typo fixed. But not sure I follow...

"PC of 2.6GHZ Dual core and 2GB RAM."

What can you do with a dual core and 2GB RAM? How can you even run a desktop?

Anyway, I decided to get a card with a fan after all. I don't want a fanless card heating up my PC. It feels strange not having a card, I've never run a PC without one. But I will say this I5 Intel has the best onboard video I've seen yet.

I haven't received the card yet, but it's this one here at Best Buy Canada:

Got mine on sale for $10 less. Oddly it's over twice as much at bestbuy.com. This was the MOST I was going to pay, by the way.

Received the card today. (Zotac GeForce GT 640 1GB DDR5 PCI-E) Works perfectly. No muss, no fuss. Probably the easiest video card I've ever installed. My desktop/applications are faster, look better and the card runs silent. The PC runs a degree or two cooler too...Yes, not much but at least it's not higher.
