So I got this hard drive for Christmas and installed it. I've enabled Trim and used Magicians software to optimize. When I used the programs benchmark test however, I was surprised to see speeds essentially half of what they are supposed to be.

Now don't get me wrong, even at these speeds it's quite impressive how fast it is but the fact that it should be double what it is right now is both perplexing and something to look forward to if someone could help me figure out why the SSD's performance is at 50%.

Intel i-7 920
Gigabyte ex58-ud3r
OCZ Gold 8 GB
HD Radeon 4770
Windows 7 Pro

Solution
Your benchmark results are normal.
Your motherboard has 8 3Gb/s SATA ports; it does not have any 6Gb/s SATA ports.

You need a motherboard that has Intel 6Gb/s ports in order to get advertised Read/Write speeds from your SSD.

Is there a good cpu/motherboard combo you would suggest that won't break the bank? Maybe around $350?
