Hi,

I'm upgrading my CPU soon and I'm just trying to find out what kind of things I need to upgrade with it.

My question is, what kind of compatibility issues can arise with different CPU's and differences in RAM mhz?

My old CPU is a i7 930 and I'm looking to get an i7 4790k

According to Intel the 930 has these memory types:
Memory Types: DDR3-800/1066

and the 4790k these:
Memory Types: DDR3-1333/1600

Does this mean my current RAM will most likely not work with the CPU? Or are these specifications un releated to RAM?

Solution
if your ram is 240pin and pretty sure it should be it should work provided the motherboard will support the speed. think the lowest any new board will support is 1066mhz but you should really get some new ram.. slower than 1333mhz wont be good for the 4790k and really it should have at least 1600mhz but it can support much faster ram like 2400mhz provided that the motherboard will.
