I've build this PC recently
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2TP9XL
I had no problems apart from the 24 Pin motherboard power connector.
It seems as if the power connector is not plugged in as far s it should be, for example it hasn't 'clicked in.' It seems the plug could go in maybe 2-4mm more
The PC still works fine, I have used it idle and under load for a few hours
Do you think omething is wrong with either the 24 pin connector from the PSU, or is something wrong with the motherboard slot? Is the PC safe to use at the moment?
Thanks

Solution
Thanks for the photo. That's really helpful. Does the four pin part go to the bottom of the of the socket? It won't click, but is may go in further. (Just to test)

It should fit, and I know you know that, so we have to figure out why not.

1. There's a foreign object (small) in the socket somewhere.
2. There's a manufacturing defect that has left a bit of plastic sticking out.
3. One of the pins is bent.
4. There is a defect on the plug which prevents it from fitting.
5. The socket is tight and needs a bit more force. (be careful).
6. None of the above.

You can get a better view of what you are doing if you remove the memory and a bright light will help detect things in the wrong place.

If nothing works, I'd take the...

Hi thanks for replying,
The 4 pin section can be separated from the 20 pin.
So i tried to plug in the 20 pin separately, it still doesn't 'click in'
I also tried my old corsair 620w PSU. The same problem here it doesn't 'click in'
Both of them go into the connector, they're not so loose that a small pull on the connector and it comes off, however AFAIK they should click in?

Picture if its any help

If nothing works, I'd take the motherboard out of the case an look very carefully at everything. You should be able to identify where it is binding.

Ok thanks I will try these steps over the following days.
For the mean time is it safe to continue using the PC?
