Hello, Quick Question just need to check,

Is it worth upgrading to the newer gtx 980 due to the cooler temps, my 780TI keeps going to temps like 83-85c and to me that's just too hot on games like FarCry 4 on max settings, it is the EVGA super clocked ACX one. I have put an extra 30mhz on core, But even taking that off the temperature is too high :(. Also I have not put any extra voltage onto the GPU.

Cpu is fine never over 52C in gaming. I have good cooling, 2 140mm fans at top one intake one out-take, I also have a 120mm at the bottom too, cpu is water-cooled.

is the GTX 980 Faster then the gpu I have now If i got a custom one?

Thankyou.

your temperature are fine. a bit higher by today standards but still considered as normal and acceptable. only start to worry when the temp goes into 90c above. try creating your own fan profile instead of auto profile for your GPU. also fix your air flow. you can refer to this article:

don't let the fans go against the natural flow

it should be bottom intake

top exhaust

also my 7950 vapor -x which is also a 24nm card runs at 82-85C with my custom fan curve how ever im OCing to 1300/1900 @ 1.22V

so u should try to increase the fans manual or adjust a custom fan curv in msi afterburner

TL;DR your temps atm should be your OC temps your temps should be around 7XC instead of 8XC
