Hi All,

I just got a new PC on the 26th and I installed core temp just now and the cores temperature on idle is 68ºC. The CPU temps according to speed fan are at 72ºC. I am not sure what is wrong with the computer i just got it 2 days ago it's brand new. I also noticed that the cpu though set to 3.5Ghz keeps on throttling to 1399.77MHz and then stays on those clocks rating for minutes before going back to 3.5 for like 3 seconds then back to 1399.77.

The computer i got: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=WKSPB4500W&name=PB-4500W-Family-Series-AMD-8-Core-FX-8320-Eight-Co

The cooler is this a CNPS 10X: http://media.bestofmicro.com/C/Q/268730/original/zalman_cnps10x-performa_installed.jpg

The Motherboard is a ASROCK 970 pro3 r2.0

Your good. Your temps look great.

The 'red circle' around the green light indicates you are in 'performance' mode for over-clocking. You may click the green light to remove the performance mode if you wish.

edit: When the clock speed is reported in 'RED' -- that means the core is Turbo'd.

No worries! :)

Agree with Geto. Either your cooler isn't getting enough contact or your paste was insufficiently applied. You don't need much, but anything more than a grain of rice in the center is probably too much. Remove the HSF, clean both it and the CPU of paste, and re-apply. A pre-built machine shouldn't be having issues like this already.

Temps are driven by voltages -- You should use AMD OverDrive to monitor yours.

It is likely your motherboard is over-volting your processor. You should take manual control of your voltages to minimize this effect.

The CPU-throttling is a power-saving feature called 'Cool&Quiet' - or C&Q. It's normal.

So i just went into the bios and noticed that the C&Q was disabled along with some power saving C6 thing so i enabled both and now the temperatures are around 38 for the core and sometimes goes to 45 then 56 but comes back down to around 35(While Browsing the web). The CPU temps are now around 41 and sometimes goes to 50-55 but come back down. The CPU is still throttling speeds probably cause of C&Q like Wise cracker said. And i don't think it throttles speeds when gaming, I haven't checked but i didn't notice a major drop in fps, it stays around the range. So should i bother taking this computer back? I can't open cause of the warranty seal can only take it back. Should I?(Sorry for the bad English not my first language)

Edit: Just downloaded AMD Overdrive and according to the CPU Status the thermal margin is in the blue around 34. The CPU Frequency though is in red around 3.9Ghz, Probably due to Turbo. And the Voltage rating is 1.425 and stays there for most of the time sometimes goes to around 1.3875 then back to 1.425 throttles between those 2 voltages though it stays at 1.425 for most cores. Also the green little icon around in the top-right corner has a red circle around it. Is it meant to be red?
