Hey guys,

I'm thinking of building a new PC specifically for gaming, and am wondering which RAM should I get.

The components I'm getting are:
R9 290 GPU
i7 4790k CPU
Asrock Extreme4 Mobo

Here's the list I'm looking at:
http://au.pcpartpicker.com/parts/memory/#s=302400&sort=d7

Also this is the store I'm using since I can get a special price there:
https://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/index.phtml?bid=9

I've set it specifically to 8GB DDR3-2400 CAS10, since a alot of the games I play are very CPU intensive
and some not even multi core optimized, like mount & blade, total war, arma etc.

And higher frequency have shown to have a pretty big performance increase in some of the benchmarks
for those games.

I'm wondering which one on that list provides the best performance? And also overclocking ability as well?
Also which works better for the haswell refresh cpu I'm using?

As there's too many different brands like G.skill, Corsair etc. and even different versions like Tridant, Ripjaws etc.
so it's pretty confusing.

So which one should be the best for my build? Appreciate any help in this matter!

For Haswell, the Tridents are the best I've found (have them in both of mine (in sig), after them, have found the TeamXtreem, Vengeance Pro and Snipers on a par w/ each other, then the RipJaws X. Just wrote an article on 2400 32GB sets for Toms and those were my findings

ahh thanks mate for your reply, bu yeah this is where I'm really troubled.
G.Skill released so many different rams, many of them are even the same speed or cas number,
but what are the difference between them? Which one provide the best performance and most stable?

Alright thanks, btw you meant Trident X right? since that's the only one I found on that list.

Also just for some more information, is G.Skill pretty much dominating the RAM market atm?

Hey
I was kinda wandering same thing i will run 4970k on hero VII mbo and was looking at ram kits there was many,it was kinda overwhelming the more i looked the more i second guess myself.eventually i did manage to find decent kit with great price F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH with CL9-11-10-28 i checked QVL and it is compatible with hero VII. And was quite happy.
Then i stumble to this post and read what you wrote how trident x is best for my cpu. Now not so much :p
Found this trident kit F3-2133C9D-16GTX CL9-11-11-31
im guessing that trident will be better, but what do i know so i will ask anyway which one do you think will be better for me.
Just to add i mean to OC as much as i can.

My friend bought wrong kit so he give me this Corsair Dominator 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ CMP16GX3M2X1866C9
this ram got nice timings 9-10-9-27 and 1.5v
Few days after i talked with you last time i went on and order this G.Skill F3-2133C9D-16GTX 16GB (2133MHz, CL9) DDR3-RAM as you recommended.
What do you think is better and is dominator even compatible with hero VII?
Couldn't find nothing on corsair page about z97
I still have time to cancel order for ram and go with dominator gt or i stick with g skill?
Thank you in advance
