Thanks to this forum, I chose to purchase (awaiting delivery) of a GTX 980. I'm pretty pumped.

Question: do I gain any benefit keeping my 6970 installed as well? I've read about dedicated Physx (sic) cards, but from I've read the 980 has a lot of horsepower.

It would be a shame to part with the 6970, but I don't want to keep it installed if it's just for decoration. NOTE: I don't think I can crossfire/sli amd & ati, and I don't intend to if I could.

Main purpose is gaming, and now photoshop (new baby). 3 monitor set up.

Can you please advise?

Solution
You can't use the 6970 as a Physx card since Physx is only supported on Nvidia cards.

And using them together will most likely cause driver conflicts causing system instability.

You're going to have to use the GTX 980 solo.
