Hmm, well that is just a graphics card not a full build but if you want to use the Asus GTX 970 you'll get high frame rate on 1080p the higher you want to go in resolution the less FPS your going to have.

EDIT: Misread your post, but yes, the build I listed should easily be capable of getting 60 FPS at 1080p on just about anything. Cant guarantee it, but its just about top tier as far as hardware goes.

It totally depends on the game and the monitor your going to be using. If you have a display that has 60hz refresh rate your going to benefit from a max of about 60 FPS weather its getting higher or not.

There's no way to give a answer to that question, everything depends on what game your playing, what hardware the game is optimized for. For instance you could probably get 350+ FPS on minecraft, but only get 60-90 on battlefield. There's just no way of saying for certain without actually playing with the PC.

That being said, with a lower end PC then what i showed you i get about 70 FPS in Assasians creed unity, 90 FPS in Dragon age Inquisition, and 120 FPS in Total war Shogun 2.

Thats the best I can give you in terms of prediction on how well it will do FPS wise.

No, for me overclocking has never been necessary, and thats on a worse computer than what I linked for you.

Have you ever put a PC together by the way?

But back to your question, I do not recommend overclocking to first time builders, its a fairly precise process, and you can screw something up if your not careful. Over clocking can be a great way to get some extra FPS and performance out of your components, but I wouldn't do it unless you feel like your game play is suffering and it may help.

IF you decide to try overclocking, I'd definately do a lot of research and tutorial watching before you try it.

Thats good, try to watch him do the stuff if possible, its a lot more simple than it seems, but I'd definately leave the overclocking to him and make sure to pay attention to your computer heat as you play.

I have not built anything but from what i have read its best to get the best single gpu that you can afford as the more you out into sli you start having problems with tearing and funky things

True, but he asked for a killer build so that's what I provided, I'm running about 750 on components, but I spent about 1800 due to a new monitor, and other peripherals.

Assuming that he's not strapped for cash, and by the sound of it hes not, he's better off going for a better build because it will last longer no?
