If your going to daisy chain fans (4 at the moment) do they all need to be 4 pins?

Or can I have the main one A PWM and the other 3 not PWM?

Thank you in advance!

Jeremy

No problem in using all PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fans; they have an extra pin for speed control. However, you should be plugging in only one fan into the motherboard header because of power limitations of the header. Daisy chaining them and plugging into the PSU via a Molex connector is fine and is recommended for daisy chained fans because of the increased power draw which the motherboard fan header cannot supply.

Thank you! you have been great help last question.

I am installing 4 fans on the side of my case blowing on my (2) 290x (Vram is reaching 110C during bench marking).

I am buying (4) silent wing 2 fans --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V21E0611&cm_re=silent_wing_2-_-9SIA68V21E0611-_-Product

and (3) of these splitter cables --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812162026&cm_re=Silverstone_cpf01-_-12-162-026-_-Product

Am I missing anything?

Its quite a large parches, so I wanna make sure that I will be ready to go once i get it here.

Yes, without a speed controller the fans will run at max speed; which is fine. All my case fans (except the CPU fan) in my desktops run at full speed because I want max cooling.

At one time I did use a speed controller but I did not find it useful; so I disconnected the speed controller and let the fans run at full speed.

Hi Last last question,

I am ready to check out at newegg lol. but before I do.

Can I add another splitter from my current fan controller to the new 4 fan set to controll speed and still use molex for power?

Depending on the power output of the speed controller, yes you can. Just make sure that the combined power of the fans is less than the output of the controller.

Ok you will be proud of me !

I did some digging and looks like

If Watt ~= Volt * Amp

Than 12v * 0.2A = ~2.4W * 4F = 9.6W

My corsair 600T fan controller is 12V!

wait now i gotta see what other fans are connected lol

You are right about Volts X Amps = Watts (DC systems).

12V is different from 12 W - check and see what the Corsair controller max wattage is.

I did look I wasnt success full however, At overclockers.com Someone tested the fan controller at its various positions (because its a knob) and its max out put was 11.75V so I am assuming that its prob a 12Vmax.

And I looked at my other 2 fans (1) 120mm exhaust fan @ 0.38A and (1) 240mm intake @ 0.64A. They use to much power to also be included on the controller but I have 2 system fan headers on my Mobo can I just plug them in there and let those ones be constant full speed?

I was worried about running full speed needlessly and wearing out a $100 in fans for nothing.
