Which cpu will be more suited for me

Ok so i have debated wether i should buy an i5 4690k or an i7 4790k. I want to live stream and render videos. I currently use an FX 6300 which has been sufficient for both. I have enough for the i7 but i'm not sure if i want to spend that much as that will be all of my christmas money gone, so can the i5 handle these kinds of tasks without impacting too much on my fps in games?

Solution
If you find the fx 6300 sufficient for what your doing then i would save some money and go for the i5 it will be quite a bit better that the fx 6300 in most applications the i7 would be better still but i dont think its worth the money if the fx 6300 worked well for you. Or just stay with the 6300 until broadwell comes out and get one of those.

Will the fps difference be noticable between the i5 and the i7 while streaming/recording? or will it be over 60 on most games? (Im looking to stream cs:go which i currently get 200-300fps depending on the map, and dayz which i definitely wont be getting 60fps on but will it be jumpy gameplay or will it be ok with an i5)

Yes there probably will be a noticeable difference maybe 1-5fps when recording between the i5 and i7 both will probably do over 60fps in most games, but not dayz that game runs like crap on every system but you should stay above 30fps depending on what graphics card you have, i doubt there would be much of a difference between the i5 and i7.

That wouldn't be a bad idea either it would certainly be a hell of a lot cheaper u could just use the mobo u have now. It wont perform much better in games but it should be quite a bit better in streaming rendering etc.

I think i'll go for the i5 since next gen games are getting a bit too much for the fx 6300

There you go the new intel chips are quite a bit better than the 6300 and 8350 in most games.

I don't think the I5 will be better for next gen games. Next gen games will be ran on highers threads (notice I didn't say cores). The i5 has 4 core/ 4 threads. Farcry 4 uses 3 threads and the rest pressure is on 1-2 cores. The fx 8350 has 4 modules/8 threads. In each modules there are 2 cores. 1 Intel core can be compared to 2 modules in gaming. So the FX 8350 is a Slower Intel i5 4670k with 4 more threads. Yes the FX series is dead but you won't have to spend all your money on a new processor and motherboard. Also the fx 8320/8350 beats the Intel i7 in live streaming and gaming. Get a fx 8320 and take me out for dinner.

Aren't live streaming and video rendering both threaded? Sure an i5 would do better for some things but if a 6300 has been doing well for you then you don't need the extra single core proformance, an 8350 will rock anything well threaded and multiple things that are nonthreaded (sounds more like what you need) and you may not even need to replace your mobo

The new i5's and i7's have pulled ahead of all the fx chips in almost every gaming benchmark i have seen. They may have more cores but those cores just aren't as fast as intel's most games prefer a few fast cores over a lot of slower ones and i dont think thats going to change anytime soon.

What about when your live streaming 720p60fps/1080p 30fps, Running skype or somthing, Gaming, 2 monitor and on the second monitor you have chat running which goes super fast.

I agree the fx chips are very good when it comes to streaming im not argueing that i have seen all those videos i am subscribed to tek syndicate jayztwocents has a very good video on it as well.

But he IS streaming, the extra cores will still be used, maybe next gen games will be able to use 6-8 cores at once (I certainly hope so, and I think a couple can)

- I can't figure out how to reply on the mobile version

Yeah but while i may not get much of a performance dip with an 8 core, im pretty sure a four core intel will still give me more fps on the type of games i play which are generally poorly optimized and cpu intensive. (Arma3, dayz etc)

Yes it will the arma engine runs quite a bit better on intel chips. I have to turn down the settings quite a bit to keep my framerate above 30 in towns with my fx 6350. My friends i5 3570k has no problem at all on high settings his frame rates are always above 30 with the same gpu.
