I currently have a phenom ii X4 970 and was wondering if I should upgrade my CPU (I will also have to upgrade my mobo as it is only an am3 board) so should I upgrade yet? and if so, what should I upgrade to?
Are you unhappy with it's performance? It's still solid cpu.
Well, I was going to upgrade my GPU but people were saying my CPU would bottleneck it, I was going to get an R9 280 but then people were saying my CPU only utilise about half of my GPU power, I am not very tech savvy so I just went with it and thought it would be better to upgrade the CPU first, is this not the case?
You should be fine, games aren't very well threaded anyway and your CPU wont effect your frame rate until it reaches a roof, once you get your new card just play it at low settings then high settings and if the frame rate doesn't change then you need to get a new CPU
A few days ago I went from an OCed AMD Phenom II x4 955 so basically same as yours and I went to an i5 4690k and I must say as a gamers it has been the best upgrade I have ever done.
I assume you mean 4690K as I can't find a "4890k" what GPU are you using?
