Hi, the speaker test works in realtek audio manger all speakers are where they should be but no other audio works film, music or online. Drivers are upto date and working properly, directx installed uptodate all works fine. Audio codecs installed also.
Windows 7 64, asus z87-pro.
I had speakers working on old external creative sound blaster live but it's playing up!
The speakers definitely work.

Could the nvidia hd audio driver be interfering?

Cheers

Already done but thanks for posting.

After puzzling over this for 3 weeks half hour after posting my question i sussed it out and the surround is working properly! With the sound card i had the speaker control panel set to 6 channel (speakers are logitech z5400) it was the only effect that would put the sound out of all 5 speakers but the sound was flat, the surround wasn't working how it normally does like gun fire going off in the background and so on. With the onboard sound there was no sound at all apart from the test in realtek audio manager and the test in control panel, it was set to default by default.
Anyway to get it working i swapped the green plug to the green slot under the black that got the audio putting out of the 2 front speakers which are the ones i'd just plugged into the green slot. I then changed the speaker panel effect to stereo 2 and everything is working like it should!
In the realtek audio manager if you have it in 5.1 or 7.1 the two front speakers won't work when you have the green plug plugged into the correct slot on the i/o and when the front two speakers aren't working the others won't only in the test. You have to plug the green plug into the green slot below the black which is line out on the i/o when normally it goes green, black then yellow along the top row.
