Hi there, I've had a few problems answered simply by reading the threads here in the past, but this time I can't find anything this case specific; so I thought I'd just ask on my own!

Basically, I've noticed my gaming PC has become a lot slower and a lot more prone to crashing in recent months and I can't seem to work out why. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to the more technical side of things, so I'm not even sure what I should be looking for here.

I built the rig myself about 3 years ago, and frankly It's never been as good as the price tag might suggest, likely due to my poor cable management and admitted uselessness. It's prone to bluescreening when I'm doing nothing but watching Youtube videos, but can run all the latest games at full capacity without so much as a wobble. It's never been able to install Java correctly, causing a full system restart whenever a Java app is loaded. It's a total enigma.

Anyway, more recently, it's been taking a LONG time to boot up, and then it takes a long time before I can actually open and program, then the first program I load takes forever as well. It's utterly unbearable. When I'm doing nothing, the memory usage sits at around 3GB out of my 8GB RAM, plus the little red CPU usage light on the front is constantly on, only going off for miliseconds at a time.

Plus, as stupid as it sounds, I'm not sure as to when it would be appropriate to but new parts for the thing. My friend build the exact same set up as mine and has already had to swap the PSU and Motherboard, but I can't tell if mine need replaced or are up to scratch.

I realise all this makes me sound like an absolute idiot, so please do treat me like a child on this one. WHat I need is some advice on what to check or what to change to make this thing run like it should. If this is the wrong section, Sorry! And if you need any more info, please ask.
