Help me find parts to make a computer.

Solution
Wow Ok the keyboard mouse optical requirement.... yeah... I can probably add that.

Well Keyboard mouse and a headset....

I don't like it but it comes in at less than $310 for a quad core system with 8 gigs of ram that should have semi acceptable graphics for light gaming... Since you can post on here I am assuming that you have the capability of putting an OS on a thumb drive.

240 gb ssd?
Does it already have an operating system on it?
With that budget you understand that you aren't looking at something that can really play modern games but ones about 2 generations old?

What other parts do you have? A $300 budget won't get you much, a dual core apu is probrably about all you can afford if you don't have anything other than an ssd

Edit:quad core apu, I stand corrected, I would join in but I'm on a phone

I'll try to put something together without a monitor/keyboard/mouse/optical drive.

.:edit:.

A cheap Pentium G3258 build could probably made for under $300 for good/decent gaming but the G3258 would not be enough for video editing. With video editing you want a lot of cores. The FX 6300 would be the cheapest CPU with a lot of cores. I'll still try though

.:edit2:.

Tried and failed. If you want the best CPU possible in a $300 you can't get a good enough video card. If you get a decent video card you will have to sacrifice a good CPU for video editing and go with a gaming rig.

Here's mine. Didn't include keyboard, mouse, optical drive, etc.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/R6xN99

Pentium G3258
R7 260X
MSI H81M-P33
Antec 300 Case
Corsar CSM 450W PSU
Kingston Fury 1x4GB 1866MHz RAM.

Should have okay gaming. Total price is ~$290 but that's after rebate. There is a Gigabyte GTX 750 on sale right now too so you could replace the 260X with that but I believe the 260X would be stronger. Honestly if you can get a second hand computer case, keyboard, mouse, and monitor for free or have old one to reuse it would free up your $300 budget for the core components.

If he can pull a keyboard monitor and mouse from somewhere as well as a case it would help a ton. worst part is I can make a trip to my basement and grab 3 or 4 of each of those.another horrible thing is that a crap monitor 15 inch is $65 but you can pick up a nice 21 inch for $100 or so, but the budget listed really forces me to pick from the $65 crap.

I agree. I have access to 1 or 2 aftermarket cases and 5-6 cases from older HP/Compaq/Dell computers. Same with OEM keyboard and mouses. As far as monitors I have a few old 15"/17" monitors that are square shaped, and that's not counting the massive CRT monitors in the shed. Fans, CPU Coolers, Optical Drives, Power supplies, etc. Sometimes I wish some of the people coming for help to Toms was nearby me so I can give them some of the excess.
