ok, i am having cooling issues with the stock fan for the i5 4590, and i decided to upgrade coolers. I am looking at the Hyper 212 Evo and Arctic Silver 5.
Cooler: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419741038&sr=8-1&keywords=hyper+212+evo
Thermal Paste: http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Silver-Thermal-Compound-Grams/dp/B000OGX5AM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1419741337&sr=1-1&keywords=arctic+silver+5

Are these good choices? If it matters, my case is the Corsair 200r, and im planning on getting a GTX 970. My RAM is the Kingston HyperX, and mobo is the Asrock H97M Pro4

Yes, these are pretty good choices. With the Hyper 212 EVO, you'll need to use screws on the back side of the motherboard. If you're okay with that, it's a really good CPU cooler for its price. If you're looking for a screw-less design, you could have a look at the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO (I own one, and it does a good job of keeping the CPU cool).

i dont know, but getting one now will help in the long run. i am running the intel graphics right now, if that makes a difference. i hit 75-80 degrees c while playing Fallout NV, and i cant play tf2 or any multiplayer game cause it cant handle it. i need a new cooler.

im gonna be getting the gtx 970. the integrated graphics are contributing to the heat?
i reached 95 degrees c on Team Fortress 2, which is pitiful.

I own a Core 2 Quad Q9300. The temperatures reach 50 degrees or so Celsius when I run Prime95 (Blend). And around 45 when gaming. These are the case temperatures, and not individual cores. I guess individual cores reach around 60-65 degrees when gaming.

Edit: By the way, I've overclocked a bit. Original clocks - 2.5 GHz (333 MHz FSB)
Overclocked clocks - 3.0 GHz (400 MHz FSB)
