Quick question about a clean install of Windows 8.1

My desktop currently has 2 hard drives installed - one 500GB drive that contains my current installation of Windows 8.1 and a load of games and other files - the other is 1TB and empty, save about 2 gigs.

I got a solid state drive for Christmas - a Samsung 850 PRO - and I plan on using that to house my OS instead of the 500GB hard drive. I already have a new copy of Windows 8.1 ready to roll.

My question is about the old drive - Will I need to delete the Windows 8.1 files on there currently in order for the new Windows installation to work properly (or more smoothly)?

Thanks for the help!

no I dont think you have to delete the old 8.1 off of the hdd either you can set the ssd to be the main drive for loading windows through bios or you can take out all the hard drives put the ssd in there and put windows on it without any of the hardrives in there and it should automatically select that as the main hard drive to load windows from then you just put your other hard drive or drives back in and you should be good. I had the same problem before and had to set bios to make my main hardrive to be my windows hard drive
