Asus M5A97 evo R2.0 won't detect memory?

Hi, my new board says it can't detect my RAM. I have an M5A97 evo r2.0, fx 8350, and before my new board and CPU I was using Corsair CSMX3 2x2GB 1600mhz and now just got 1x4GB Kingston Hyperx Fury 1600mhz. No matter what RAM setup I use it won't recognise it.
I use a Gainward GTX 560 ti. How can I fix this. Thanks.

Hi, Try testing the RAM module in different PC, to make sure that it isn't defective.

Microsoft support are as always being useful "lets boot into safe mode" how can I boot into safe mode without being able to boot!!!!!!!

Hi, thanks for that it helped, I now have display and it recognises my RAM. Now it boots and says there was a system repair error, it can't be repaired. I can't reinstall my OS and start again as it says the partition isn't formatted in the right way, it says something about GTP? Please ask if you need more detail I've probably been to vague.

Would you like to reinstall Windows? Are there needed files on the HDD, or you can format the HDD and reinstall?
What hard drive using?
Is it GPT formatted?
What was the old board?
If pressing F8 at restart, are you able to boot in safe mode?

Yes I would like to reinstall windows, there are no needed files on the HDD as everything can just be redownloaded. I am using a western digital caviar blue 7200rpm 1TB. My old board was a gigabyte GA-H55m-UD2H.

I have got my PC working hozza, but the upgrade is not done. How do I remove all my old files so I have the full TB instead of 200GB. Also my PC boots into 1366x768 but then swaps to 1024x768, how do I make the resolution stay at 1366x768.

Then insert an Windows DVD?USB, boot from it and start installing Windows.
