32 bit application not running in windows 8 64 bit

Some of my old 32 bit games do not run in Win8 64 bit - I get the error message "this application is not designed to run on Windows 64-Bit Edition!"

Any ideas how to overcome that?

Are you sure the games you're trying are 32 bit and not 16 bit?
16 bit software are not supported in 64 bit Windows 8.
I have a GWBASIC interpreter of pre historic era that i tried to run 64 bit Windows 8.1, and I got the same message.
If the games are really 32 bit games, they should run. If not, try the compatibility mode and attempt running it in a previous version compatibility.
If its a 16 bit DOS era game, try installing "DOS BOX" and running it from there.
