I'm 15 and I've recently built my starter PC. Specs:
AMD FX-8350
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (71.2% ASIC)
Corsair H100i (with better fans)
8GB RAM 2400MHz (so far)
Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 motherboard
NZXT Phantom 410

So basically I'm using MSI afterburner and Furmark to overclock and test stability. I increased the power limit to 110%. I increase the core clock by 50MHz each time and at about 150MHz it seems to crash with the OpenGL error '
(The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.

The application must close.'
Most people get at least 200MHz on their core clock without a problem... I then tried to overclock memory and same thing...

So what am I doing wrong or what is wrong? Sorry for my lack of experience :)

Your version of that graphics card is already an overclock card. If not the fastest 970 on the market already. I have the 980 and I can only push another +130mhz on the core and mine is the superclocked edition. The problem is your expecting too high of a clock, you'll be lucky to get 1400 mhz overclocked on a 970
