So as stated in the title i have the modem and router both located in my room and i have my pc setup with a wired connection but the problem is when the family gets home and uses their wireless devices it causes my ping to spike way to high to be playable on my wired connection i do not experience any lag when no one is home obviously what im asking here is if there is any way to like limit the amount of internet bandwidth the wireless connections can use total and give my wired connection the upper hand my internet speed is 16mb down and 1.1 upload any answers is appreciated

Certain SME-oriented routers will allow traffic management, but cheap consumer routers, or ISP-provided ones won't. DrayTek routers typically allow traffic management based on MAC address, so you can throttle the connection of individual devices. Bear in mind that you're opening up a can of worms by doing this, as people will start wondering why their connection has slowed down. You could ask them to dial-down their usage, but why should they?

Alternatively, keep everyone happy and pay for a faster connection if it's available.
