Powered down pc for trip, now it won't turn back on. Have tried unplugging and resetting motherboard cmos to no avail. When I

Check all the internal PSU Connections to ensure nothing has come loose.

Check your Graphics Card is sat properly, as well as your RAM. Ensure the connector to the case switch is not loose either.

It's almost certainly a cable/component that has slipped out of place.

Hi, back again -finally have time to pull it all apart. Tested psu and can runs fine, but when plugged back in it doesn't. Took out GPU and that has no effect. Is it the motherboard at this point? It's an as rock z97, only for months old. Thanks again for any advice

If your PSU features removable cables, ensure they're firmly attached at both ends of the component. Motherboard and PSU.

Could you describe how you transported the PC? I've transported a desktop once in a wheelie suitcase. I ensured it was well-padded on all sides with blankets. Even still, I was cautious and gentle when traversing rough surfaces.

If you have an Integrated Graphics Port (DVI or HDMI port on the Motherboard itself) then try booting your system with only the CPU, CPU Cooling Unit, 1 stick of RAM and PSU attached. Ensure the Monitor is attached to the Motherboard, or that you have installed and attached the Monitor to the Graphics Card if no Motherboard Monitor connector is present. Make sure Graphics Card is removed from the system if the Monitor has a graphics port.

You could closely inspect the Motherboard for any damage or loose components. Compare the Motherboard to an image of your exact Motherboard model number (you can locate the image on Google or a similar search engine easily).

Before undergoing the RMA process you could try a complete dismantle and reassembly of the PC. That will rule out any overlooked connections or components that may have come loose.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The computer was not transported at all - I went away for a trip and when I returned the computer wouldn't turn on again. The tower hadn't been moved and was working fine before I left. I guess I will try rebuilding from scratch again. I'm confused why the PSU responds outside the case, but does not power the fan when plugged into the board. At this point nothing to lose by starting again, before sending the MB back. Was considering taking it to a repair store to get a second opinion in case they would see something I don't.
