My monitor display bad resolution text although it wasn't used to do that

So recently I had to format my PC. I have a HP Pavilion 25xi and my graphic card is an ASUS Radeon 4890 HD. Yes I did install the drivers and they are up to date. I even installed the HP's My Display software and played with the options but my text (mostly on the internet) still looks like this :

It bothers me not only because it looks ugly but also it is hard to read small text which are unfortunately omnipresent on support websites.

I am not a 100% sure how I did resolve this problem but I think it is because my whole Visual Effects were turned off by my wonderful boyfriend when he helped me out installing my PC.

So if you got the same problematic you need to go in Control Panel --> System --> Advanced ---> Performance Settings ---> Then adjust for best appearance (I am not sure which option will trigger a better text resolution). Close your internet browser and open it again and I believe it should do the trick.
