I need help finding a decent Nvidia Graphics Card for PCIe x16. Previously had a EN9400GT DDR2 1 GB graphics card.

My current computer configuration:

- ASUS P5KPL-AM Motherboard
- PCIe x16 / PCIe 1.0

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KPLAM/specifications/

- Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.80 GHz
- 4 GB, DDR2 1066 RAM
- Corsair 500 W PSU

http://www.corsair.com/se-fi/cx-series-cx500m-modular-atx-power-supply-500-watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-psu

The only games I pretty much play is Counter-strike 1.6.

Budget wise, I want to keep around $30-60.

Suggestions?

To answer 1st question, all of these graphics cards mentioned so far are PCI-Express 2.0 or 3.0. PCI-Express 1.0 cards would be considered rare now. They all work in a motherboard that only has PCI-Express 1.0 though.

Second, if you are dead set on buying an Nvidia graphics card then go ahead and pick one. The Nvidia GT 730 listed there is going to be at best as good as the Radeon 6770 but likely slower cause of several reasons including the fanless design which typically has the parts slowed down to stay under a certain heat. It is certainly much slower than the Radeon 7770, not to mention several Radeon 7750 cards available.

For AMD vs. Nvidia, long story short you want to buy an AMD graphics card. It isn't because AMD is overall...
I found a better one the 6770's replacement, the 7770.

As for those two Nvidia GPUs, the Nvidia GT 210 is one of the slowest GPUs made in the last decade. Chances are its just slightly faster than the graphics inside of your motherboard. Seriously, its that bad and its absolutely worthless.

As for the 6770 vs. the GTX 260. The link above shows a review with testing several graphics cards and you will see the AMD 6770 best competes against the Nvidia GTX 460, which is the successor to the GTX 260. So it would be considerably faster.

If you manage to get the Radeon 7770 posted above, it is roughly on par with the Radeon 6870 so will give even better performance.

For AMD vs. Nvidia, long story short you want to buy an AMD graphics card. It isn't because AMD is overall better, in fact the Nvidia GTX 980 and the GTX 970 are the best graphics cards in the world and if you can afford to buy one AMD doesn't have anything worth considering at the moment. In several other price ranges Nvidia is better also, but at the $100 and less range AMD is superior almost always because of having cheaper cards with higher performance. Some times the cards are a little aged but that doesn't matter they still have better performance than the competition at that cost.

If you would like help finding the best Nvidia GPU in your price range, someone else will probably come soon or you can message someone under the "Experts" list, they are typically happy to help. I just personally only like looking for cards with the best performance for price, don't like to stick to just one maker. So I don't want to find the best Nvidia GPU in the price range, sorry.
