I recently built my first PC and I'm trying to get dual monitors setup. My 2 monitors only accept HDMI or VGA.

Here's my setup:
Motherboard: MSI Z97-Gaming 5
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
CPU: i5-4690k

Here's what I have to work with (GPU):

And motherboard if it helps:

I received a DVI-I to VGA converter with either the motherboard or the graphics card and that's what I'm using for the one main display I have now. I tried using HDMI (on both the GPU and Mobo HDMI slots) and they didn't work. (When I plug into the GPU HDMI slot, my second monitor remains a blank screen but the first switches as if it's the second (extended) display. Is there a setting somewhere, perhaps in BIOS or something that I need to change to get it to work as I don't think I can have 2 DVI-VGA as I've read DVI-D doesn't convert to vga, only DVI-I.
