Monitor edges look fuzzy?! HELP!

So today's my birthday and I received a 28 inch Asus VN289H monitor. I hooked it up and turned it on and immediately noticed that the edges of test and images looks blurry. It bothers me immensely to the point were i want to request it be sent back, but i don't want to be a pain for my parents. please help, only around 2 out of 100 reviews on newegg mentioned my problem, so i have hopes it can be fixed. HELP PLEASE!

Set your monitors screen mode to sRGB or standard for starters.
Is the windows desktop completely filling the screen or are you getting black borders anywhere??
What os ?? & what graphics card are you using?

I dont know how to check sRGB, the windows is taking up the fullscreen with no boarders, windows 8.1 os, and a GTX 770 4Gb oc2 (about to upgrade to a GTX 970).

I switched from a 21.5 inch Samsung that frankly just had better image

Have you looked at the manual that comes on CD with the monitor.

Set the monitor mode to sRGB for windows use using the button controls described in the manual for starters.

ok im confused, first of that's not English, second i never got a CD. im considering returning it, is it because its a 28 inch monitor at 1080p quality?

& no ,the monitor just requires a modicum of tinkering.
I run windows on 27,32 & 60 inch screens at 1080p.

there's a sharpness option, but it's grayed out and i cant mess with it

You've lost me??
Are you running 2 monitors now or just 1??
Why 2 cables connected??
Try HDMI from you GPU to the monitor only.

Meant to say 'power down PC first & completely remove the vga cabling - you don't need it connected at all)
Then reboot

THAT ONLY MADE IT WORSE! It pulled up my screen but it was larger and more pixelated! ive put it back the way it was

NO !
Put it back how it was mate - HDMI cable only.
The problem is in the GPU settings & windows 8 DPI settings.
Get it back on the HDMI connection & I will walk you through it.

Right click on your desktop
Select screen resolution
Select 1920 x 1080
Set the hertz box to 60
Click apply & accept the resolution change.
Right click on desktop again
Open nvidia control panel
Open adjust desktop size & position
Set scaling option to 'no scaling'

So you now have
1. Connection by hdmi only
2.resolution set to 1920 x 1080 60 htz
3.Nvidia option set to no scaling
Correct??

Do you have a full screen image with all the desktop showing now ??
And just the fonts & icons are fuzzy??
If so boot a game up (any game)
Does this show clear & sharp??

We'all try again now I'm in front of my pc
With just HDMI connected

In nvidia control panel
Adjust desktop size & position
Make sure no scaling is ticked
Perform scaling on display is selected
Resolution is 1920 x 1080
Refresh rate is 60 htz

Click apply
Accept changes

Still fuzzy??

ok, so the game looks ok, colors are a bit weird but i can tweak that. ill give it a couple of days and if it still bothers me ill return it
