So im upgrading my rig completely new build my budget is £2300 this is what I have currently :

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/RXQY8d

I will be using the pc for gaming (mainly) as well as video editing on after effects some 3d work and rendering and graphics I will be running games on one screen 1080p however I do have a second screen on all the time. What im asking is:

Is this good ? what should I change ?

and finally two Gtx 970 ftw's or a R9 925 x2 ? I'm conflicted and am not sure if the extra vram will help

Solution
I'd suggest you go with the GTX 970, for a couple of reasons:

1) If you're primarily using a rig for gaming, then you should factor gaming performance before everything.

2) Proper PhysX calculations that don't reduce your FPS to single digits. This is one of 2 reasons I switched back to Nvidia GPUs.

3) Nvida's 3D Vision is more accessible than AMD's HD3D. With a stand alone emitter, you can use any 120Hz monitor for 3D Vision, where as HD3D requires monitors and TV's with built in emitters. Failing to find one of these monitors for over a year was the second reason I switched back to Nvidia GPUs.

4) A single GTX 970 with 4GB of VRAM is more than enough to run even the toughest games at 1920x1080 with Max settings, Watch_Dogs...

the 295x2 is bacially r9 290x2 in a single card. With that being said, the 970 is better than r9 290, (http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-290X-vs-GeForce-GTX-970) then 970 SLI will also be better than r9 295x2. The 970s in SLI will also only draw about 300 watts, whereas the r9 295x2 will draw about 500 watt of power.

Running 2 of them in SLI won't give games more VRAM for textures so I'd wait to get a second card until Nvidia to releases their 8GB GTX 970. Then you could use the 8GB as your primary and put the 4GB as the second card in SLI.
