I recently bought a m5a99fx pro r2.0 motherboard and AMD fx8370 to replace the ones that came with my HP Pavilion and due to not properly researching I discovered once I installed everything that I would need to either fix or get a new version of windows. I am wondering if there is a way for me to fix my current version of windows 7 on my hard drive or am I going to have to buy a new version of windows. If I have to buy a new version what would be recommended considering I am using my old hard drive with all my files and programs on it and I mostly use my computer for gaming. Thanks for any help for my screw up.

Solution
That's called a repair installation and yes, all programs and data will be left intact. However, ALWAYS make a backup before starting any upgrade just in case.

Thanks, so if I buy a new version would it just overwrite the old one on my hard drive and leave the rest of my files the way they are?
