Do I need a pcie cable from my power supply to use a Radeon r9 270x

Solution
You will have to buy a molex to pcie adapter,i am very sorry,my friend...
Every better card needs pcie cables, this one needs 2X 6-pin pcie cable to be powered and consumes about 165 watts!

Some PSU are also crap and do the specified wattage on peak, and that does mean that it cant power the card, but i think you can try with adapters...

I asked for the make and model because for all we known it could work with adapters or it could fry the whole system the instant the power button is pressed.

Ireland. Also, if you don't mind me asking stupid questions, if a graphics card has a PCIE connector jack does it have to be used. And if a graphics card has 2 jacks do both have to be used, or just 1, or none. Thanks for your patience!

Yes all the pci-e power ports on the card must be used. Some cards will run without them but at a severely limited performance level. Most won't work at all or will display and error saying to plug the power in.
