I have been experiencing low fps lately in some game were i would usually be getting 60 im getting 10-40 instead. my hard drive has been making a crunchy crackling noise for about 3 months i know this means its dying but could it be the cause of my low FPS?

Hard drive causing low FPS?

It could but it would cause it only as the response time would be slowed i would replace that drive asap because its on deaths door. I would check your graphics card as well just to be sure. Its hard to tell from here but it could well be due to slower response time within the directorys.
