I recently got a hyper 212 evo to replace the stock fan on my 4670k, with the stock fan, I idled around 35-39c and with the new fan, I'm idling around 40-45c. The load temperature seems fine, not going above 55c while playing bioshock infinite on ultra, but even though these idling temperatures are fine, is there a reason it's idling hotter than it did with the stock fan?

Ah, thank you. I didn't know the CoolerMaster fan ran slower than stock. I knew the idle temps weren't bad, but I've seen people here with a the same cpu and cooler idle at 22c. But, 50c under 50% load isn't too bad I guess.

What are your temps at full load? Prime95 28.5 will make it run very hot, but it shouldn't throttle. No CPU can idle at 22°C unless the ambient temperature is several degrees lower. Did you use the thermal paste that came with the cooler and if so, how much did you apply? A very common mistake is to use too much paste. You should spread a very thin layer or use the size of a small grain of rice.

I only added a few drops, no bigger than a drop of water in the center. While playing Shadow of Mordor on Ultra I get 55c load temps, so I think it's fine. I was just wondering why the idle temps were more hot than the last cooler.

Well, I guess technically a few drops. I watched a video of someone putting what he said was the correct amount, and it was 3 tiny drops. None of it pushed out of the side or anything like that.
