The subject is mantle. It started causing immense CPU spikes pretty much since I've installed the Omega drivers.

It's causing stutter and might eventually even crash. Absolutely no worries on DX11 but it performs worse than mantle without cpu problems. Currently mantle is unplayable as it is.

i5-4440
R9 270
8GB RAM
Win 8.1

Cores unparked
No intensive apps running in the background
Origin in-game disabled

I think your issue might be primarily because of mantle. It might sound stupid considering it is the sourse of your issues, but when I was still running my 7870 with my i7 3770k I had huge issues regarding performance with mantle. It started off running amazing but then as time went on it got worse and worse and worse, causing cpu spikes similar to what you're having. The only thing I can recommend is just switching back to dx11. That's what I had to do, I'm stubborn as a mule when it comes to what I want to run, and I searched for weeks upon weeks for a workaround or fix for the issue, but I never found one. I think the primary issue with mantle is, it's main function is for amd gpu's to communicate with amd APU'S. NOT cpu's, they say...

i had similar problem after updating a driver through GeForce experience. maybe you got the latest beta driver, and should try to use the latest 'WHQL' driver, I think that was my problem.

I updated through GeForce experience, but maybe you got an update through a similar AMD program, or just auto updating. I have always just gotten the newest driver, and it hasen't given me problems except this time, so i wasen't aware that i auto updated beta drivers till now. maybe it is similar for you

If KMRT's solution doesn't work then I'd just recommend running it through dx11. Sorry man :l
