Hi

So in late 2009 I built my first computer. At the time it was a pretty good build. Sure there were more expensive processors but I know I spent at least $1,200.

My wife and I will be buying a house at some point in the next 6-8 months, so if I am going to be upgrading my computer, it's gotta be now because I don't know when we will have the money to drop hundreds of dollars to upgrade my computer. This build will have to last me for at least 4-5 years.

I do some gaming, though I'm not a huge gamer. I have Far Cry 4 and some lesser games that won't push a new graphics card one iota. I do some graphic design work and play with Blender and some other 3d software as well.

Recently I have been replacing pieces of my original build with higher quality components. Gone is my awful NZXT Nemesis Elite, replaced with a Fractal Define R4. Gone are the loud case fans from my NZXT, replaced with a combination of the decent Fractal case fans and Be Quiet 140 mm Silent Wings 2 fans.

I purchased a 2 TB WD 7,200 HD as well as a 250 GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD which I use as a boot drive and to hold my primary programs that I use often.

So now I have to delve into the guts.

My CPU: I7-920 Bloomfield
Motherboard: gigabyte ga-ex58-ud3r
RAM: 8 GB OCZ Gold 1600 mhz
GPU: AMD HD Radeon 5770 1 GB

I was thinking of replacing it with:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme6/ac (It will be great to have wifi)
RAM: 16 GB G.Skill Sniper Series 2133 mhz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X
