Updated from GB 2.3.6. to ICS 4.0.4 and both front and the back camera stopped working. It acts as if the phone can't detect them, showing me the message that camera app has stopped. Resetting and flashing didn't help. Clearing the cache didn't help either. What could this be?

Was this an official upgrade from your carrier, or did you root the phone to do this? ICS may not support the cameras.
It was an official update. I used one touch upgrade software to revert it to the stock firmware, but it still doesn't work. I will get the message: "Sorry! The application Camera (process.com.sec.android.app.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." And then it forces me to close the app. When I used hardware analysis program it acted as if both front and the rear camera couldn't be detected, like they didn't even exist.

Android is painful, when it goes wrong there is not much to fix. I think this is to encourage us to toss our phones and buy new ones.
Did you call your carrier, or try a local store. Maybe even the official upgrade did not support the cameras.
