hi, changing usb port didn't help. tried all ports! used rufus, then tried win2flash, and then manually with bootsect / nt60 command to prepare the disk. file system on usb is ntfs. hard drive configuration in Bios is set to IDE... (tried others as well but no use). can anyone please help! don't suggest Microsoft download tool please ! any other work around is much appreciated as i need it very much. experts .. kindly dig into the problem

Are you trying to install via USB 3.0 (blue) ports? If so you won't be successful. The Windows 7 installer does not support USB 3.0. Most systems have at least one USB 2.0 port (black) or have the ability via BIOS to set the ports to legacy mode.

Hi! One thing I think you should try is using a completely different USB drive. I had to install Windows through USB on one of my builds, and for whatever reason one of my USB drives would not work. I simply switched to a different USB drive, and for whatever reason it worked just fine. That's just my recommendation.

This is it!. Had the same problem with MSI A88XI motherboard and tried with a USB (3.0) installation and failed one time after another, until I did the change of USB that boosted1g suggested. Thank you very much
