Hey guys, I' currently building a pc for gaming and I have a question:

Is there a point for me to go for a more expensive motherboard like z97 or z87, if I'm not planning on doing any overclocking and not going for SLI. For example, will Asus H81M-K be enough? As far as I know motherboards dont affect performance.

Videocard: gigabyte gtx 970
Processor: i5-4690
8 gigs of ram in a single stick.
Case: CORSAIR MID TOWER CARBIDE SPEC-01

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I would get a motherboard that can overclock, they tend to have more ports for USB and audio and such. I would get a z-97. Asus, ASRock, and Gigabyte are all great brands.
