GTX 295 1.7GB DX10 vs R7 260X 1GB DX11

The GTX 295 is somewhat faster than the R7 260x albeit not that much, however the 295 heats up much more and draws far more power, add to it the lack of dx11 which is becoming mainstream in modern games and clearly the best option would be the 260x.

What does the lack of DX11 do to.....my gaming experience? The heat and Power doesn't bother me, the PC will rarely be used.

Nope, comparing the R7 260X ONE GB not 2. the 2GB costs quite abit more here.

You say the GTX 295 is old, why is that a problem if it's still got more power? Heat and Power are not an issue before you mention that,

If you can get the 295 at a cheaper price than the 260x then go ahead with it, as for DX11 it will have an impact mostly in the quality of the games, such settings will appear disabled in your 295 but beyond that it won't affect the performance itself of the game.

Will I be able to run at least 1080p Low graphcis settings on any games that are older than Far Cry 3?

If so that's all I want....the 295 actually costs the same because I'll need a bigger PSU to run it, however the quality of the PSU will be far higher. (let alone the wattage)

I said it's old because it has a lot of power that is purely wasted. newer games won't run if you don't have dx11. drivers are in continuous improvement for R7 260X and gtx 295 is discontinued. I think every non dx11 is a no, even with the most powerful that was back then. R7 260X is able to run games at 1080p low settings. its quiter, runs with low end psu.

I'll be playing games that came out last year and older anyway. so DX11 support is no problem.

I don't want a low end PSU anyway because it means no upgrade ability. a PSU is one thing you can always future proof if you buy a reliable one.
