Hey guys,

This is my setup:

Psu: Antec Earthwatts 650watts
Motherboard: i-cafe IC780M-A2
cpu: AMD phenom in 960t
Gpu: Sapphire radeon 280x
8 gigs corsair vengeance ram
Wd hRd drive

It was setup and working fine for a long time. I got a new case, transfered all the parts over, and it was running fine. The front usb ports on my case were not working. So, I opened up my case to make sure everything was plugged in right. I noticed I had a three pronged plug on my mother board labeled usb power and thought it might help to plug in a three prong female chord from my psu. When I plugged my psu back in and turned it on, there was this weird clicking and the leds in the fans were flickering. I quickly turned my computer off by the switch on the psu.

Now, when I flip the switch on my psu to on, all the components in my computer turn on. But, nothing is displayed on my screen and I do not think the computer is actually running.

I tried removing all parts but the cpu and motherboard, and it still turns on when I flip the switch. I tried doing the paper clip test on my psu, and it worked fine.

Anybody got an idea of how to fix this? Or did I fry my motherboard?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
If you connected a floppy power connector (it has 4 pins, not 3 pins) to USBPWR_R or USBPWR_F, then the motherboard most likely was blown; if you conected another PSU cable to a different connector on the motherboard, then please identify exactly what you cable was connected and the name of the connector where you connected it. The manual clearly identifies the purpose of each connector.

Sounds like putting power into that plug fried something. Try having minimal ram, keyboard, psu and monitor only, and reset the BIOS, see if it will boot. If so, you might be ok, if still nothing, sad face.

It's very unfortunate because the manual clearly identifies the purpose of each connector. I presume the jumper was missing and that's why the front USB ports didn't work; the purpose of the jumper is to select the +5V source.
