I have a TP-Link router running both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks. I recently acquired a wireless adapter TP-LINK Archer T4U. If I plug the adapter into my USB3.0 port, I can connect to the 2.4GHz wireless network, but if I try to connect to the 5GHz network, the adapter get disabled by windows abruptly and have to be re-plugged back into the computer again. Meanwhile, if I plug the adapter into the USB2.0 port, the 5GHz connection works fine.

The problem is more likely to be in the 3.0 USB ports, but I am not sure where to start. The 3.0 USB ports seem to work fine themselves (I can connect to external hard drives properly).

Thanks.

USB Adapters are the worst (their antennas aren't even as long as your pinky). Try i7Baby's recommendation and get a dual band Pcie-card.
