I have cash to buy one of those 2 cards from 2 sellers to replace my crappy 8400 GS. Those cards dont consume that much power, my PSU is 450 watts. People say that the 9800 consumes less than the 8800 GTS OC, but that the 8800 is more powerful directly. Is this true?

I dont know which one to buy and I wonder how much less power the 9800 GT consumes and if it really is weaker than the 8800 GTS?

Please help me decide!

The 9800 uses less power and will most likely perform better in games, plus the 9800 has room to overclock where as the 8800 that you plan on buying is already overclocked.

in short I would recommend you purchase the 9800 GT instead of the 8800 GTS OC

note: you could try and buy a more powerful card such as the 750 ti recommend above used it might fall close enough to your budget that you can get it.

it is not too much out of your budget and it will nearly double the performance of the 9800

Thanks, if I can find anyhing better than the 9800GT I will buy it, but at these prices I doubt it.

If you are able to I would recommend you hold onto it and save up to 80$ when you can get the GTX 460, you will see a much larger improvement if you do that... However, if you do not want to do that, I would recommend you get the 9800 GT like you said.

The GT 730 is vastly inferior due to its poor memory interface width, 64 bit, when the 9800 GT has 256 bit, it outperforms it a lot, its like a 60% less powerful. The R7 does look more powerful, I might try to get that one since seems to better.

I dont know, maybe I should save more money to get something stronger and to keep for 2 years.

I would recommend you save up for something more powerful, considering you will need to use it for 2 years I would recommend you save up as much as you can(hopefully around $100 or so) and then re-post on toms hardware, you won't regret the extra money... around this price rang (0-100$ or so) you see a large performance gain for extra cash you spend. once you get above 150$ the performance to money is not quite as equal.
