the title says it all, i recently changed my motherboard and cpu, and now i have to add windows again but i want to keep my old data from my old harddrive, so i want to use a new one, take out the old one, install windows on the new one and then add in the old one, and still keep the new one, is that possible? will i still keep my old data, and if their is anyother way to not have to buy a new hard drive to keep my windows 7 from wiping my old hard drive, it would help too

if you remove the old drive when your installing windows 7 on the new drive then the data from the old one will not be effected. once you boot into windows 7 install the old drive and all the files will still be there all you have to do is assign the drive a drive letter do not repartition format or otherwise change the old drive other than add a drive letter. those operations will remove the data from the drive
