I am tight on my budget so I want to know whether I should go for fx 8320 or i5 3340 for gaming, I am going to pair it with a r9 270x. And please suggest me a cheap mobo to go with

Solution
The i5 4440 is the best option. Frequency means nothing across different architecture.

While AMD offers a great budget orientated processor, the line is sadly a dead end. Intel has the habit of changing sockets but they are able to produce strong processors at a reasonable price. Until about 6 months ago, I've recommended more AMD builds than Intel. But now I feel we've hit a turning point. In terms of system longevity, Intel is the choice.

As for the fanboy-ism. I'm tired of hearing the phrase "Buy an 8-core. Newer games are going to use more threads." People said this before AMD released the 8-core. It's been over 3 years now since AMD released the FX line. I have yet to see an new game that an Intel i5 doesn't match or surpass...

Do you have a link as to where you might buy?

For gaming, Intel will be faster in 90% of the games out there.

If you are buying new, a haswell intel cpu will be a better price performer with upgrade capabilities.
Even a less expensive i3 such as a i3-4160 will be better and is appropriate for a R9-270X

Objectives opinion here please, no features? tell me one practical feature that an amd motherboard doesn´t has. Yes am3+ is "old" but he is talking about an ivy bridge build that´s like 15% at most better than sandy bridge from 2011, every brand has it´s pro´s and con´s but please don´t be a fanatic with those comments, if it wasn´t for AMD, right now we would be buying i3 for $200, better pray for amds success.

You should go with the FX 8320, it runs with 8 cores making it that bit more optimized for newer games coming, also the 8320 is amazing at overclocking, once overclocked it will be the same performance and the 8350

You are clearly a fan boy of intel, I like intel they are good manufacturer but I don't deny facts that FX 8320 when overclocked smokes the 3340 even when none overclocked it still pars with it

As for the fanboy-ism. I'm tired of hearing the phrase "Buy an 8-core. Newer games are going to use more threads." People said this before AMD released the 8-core. It's been over 3 years now since AMD released the FX line. I have yet to see an new game that an Intel i5 doesn't match or surpass the an FX 8-core. Games are predominately designed to be Single threaded. There are very few games on the market that actually need more than 4 cores or that are multi-threaded. And even than, the games that do use more than 4 cores (or Intel HT), there is a small performance difference between the 4 core vs 4+ core/HT.

I've said this many times, I'll believe it when I see it. I have yet to see it in over 3 years.
