Blank screen after Nvidia driver install

Recently, I upgraded my graphics card from a Radeon HD 6870 to a GTX 970, and all would be great except I am getting a blank screen. This happens after I install the newest drivers provided by Nvidia (347.09 WHQL), and restart of my computer. After I login to windows, I get about 5-10 minuets before my screen goes blank. I do not have a cursor, just a blank screen. This has happened on Windows 7 and 8.1. In some cases I get the blank screen during installation of the drivers (right after the driver itself is done installing). No matter how long I wait, it never recovers and just remains a blank screen.

It works just fine in safemode/when there are just default drivers, there are only issues after I install drivers. Any help would be much appreciated.

Some things I have tried are:
-Disabling internal graphics
-Uninstalling drivers with DDU, restarting, and installing the driver in safemode
-Disabling the option to allow windows to install drivers
-Using windows 7 and 8.1
-Reseeding the card
-Updating bios

My specs:
MSI Z97-G45 Mobo
i7-4770k
8 gb RAM
PNY GTX 970
Thermaltake TR700 PSU

Thanks

Solution
Try extracting the drivers from the downloaded executable using 7-zip. Use Device Manager to have windows search the extracted files for the driver and see if that changes anything. I've had lots of problems with Nvidia drivers. Most of the time this is a solid temporary fix.
