I'm upgrading my motherboard to a Z77 chipset (same processor). I have an OEM copy of Windows 7 and know it will require a clean installation.

Will Microsoft reactivate my OEM copy if I state that I needed to replace the motherboard for a given reason, or am I screwed?

Solution
Yes, you will need to use the phone system to put in your code to verify the OS. Microsoft doesn't want it to work that way, I assume, but for me, no problems yet.

Don't worry about it at all! If you haven't activated that copy in a while, it may activate online with no issues. Worst case scenario, do like maestro says and use the microsoft phone activation system. Tell them it will be installed on no other computers, and they'll activate it for you. It's fairly painless.
